Spring has layed {a baby birdie egg}!

I can hardly believe it, but I'm turning into an old fogie. Sitting alone in my apartment, full with a delicious Chipotle burrito in my belly, watching *gasp*
"The McLaughlin Group".

Let me briefly explain my disposition. My sister and I make fun of my dad and her mom (we're stepsistes) because they watch this show religiously. This is the second week that I have found myself watching the show. I know I'll be 24 in a couple of months, but am I that old?! Oh boy. :)

Now on to the real reason for this post.

I am a godmother... kind of.

There are several pots of dirt on our back deck. They used to hold lovely flowers, but through the winter and the complete lack of sun on our deck, they have competely died. I had been planning on replanting some flowers in the pots within the next week or two, but that plan has been cancelled for at least one of the pots. Why, do you ask?

We have a little birdie family that is living in it!

This isn't my picture, but it looks pretty darn close to my pigeon home!
The only differences are:
1.) There is 1 egg instead of 2. **see edit**
2.) There aren't any twigs.

Because I am a trashy, busy person, I have had the box for the vacuum cleaner on our deck.  The only reason for doing so is because I haven't registered it and need information on the box.  The wind has been crazy here and had knocked down the box during the day.  By the time I had gotten home, there was half of a birds nest bult inside! I knew that I would be getting rid of the box soon (I don't try to live like a trashy person, I promise!) and I didn't want to mess with a full birds nest with eggs in it, so I took the nest out.

By the next day, I found a momma pigeon sitting on her little baby pigeon egg in one of the pots of dirt!

The momma and the daddy trade off sitting sessions, and it is so cute.

However, there is a dilemma.
My laundry room is off of the deck. Every time I go outside to process loads, the poor momma bird flies away.  I hate this for two reasons.  First of all, I scare the pigeon.  But most importantly, I know that the poor momma bird must have some crazy anxiety about leaving her baby egg in the hands of a human!  Alas, the laundry must be done.  Momma is just going to have to trust me.

So it is official.
Spring has sprung. Or has been layed, in this case.

Eek! I can't wait to see this little baby birdie hatch and grow!
Good thing Chloe is strictly an inside cat.
:)

**EDIT**
When I wrote this post 2 hours ago, there was 1 birdie egg.
Now there are 2!!
I guess I didn't realize that momma birds can lay eggs days apart.
I am so excited! :)

  6. Nicole! Apparently I have been MIA as well because you have like 5 new posts that I haven't seen yet! Our nest is the same, the mom and dad both sit on it as well! :) this is so fun! and also, she flies away every time we open the door or walk up to it from the yard! I've been so afraid that she'll abandon her nest because she's scared, but so far so good! :)
